ABOUT THE COFFEE


Named in honour of a famous German microphone, the Neumann U47 (Darks co owners Trent and Adam are musicians with a production background), our U47 blend consists of 3 different coffee origins; Colombia, PNG, Guatemala.

U47 has been awarded 5 times, 3 at the International level, the latest, a silver in espresso class at this years Australian International Coffee Awards in Melbourne.

U47 is a great all round coffee for any brew type. From espresso to milk, filter or cold brew. It works everywhere and displays delicate, forward acidity, with a dense, medium to full body and milk chocolate and roasted hazelnut flavours and a lingering, clean finish.


  • For Espresso

    For espresso, U47 is best brewed using the following recipe of dose, yield and time:


    1:2 brew ratio (20g in for 40g out) over 30-32 seconds.We’ve found by just tightening this up a little, we’re able to extract the richest flavour profile

  • For Filter

    For filter, U47 is best brewedusing the following recipe:


    1:16 brew ratio (15g in for roughly 250g out)

  • For Cold Brew

    For cold brew, U47 is best brewed using the following recipe:


    1:16 brew ratio (140g in for 1L out)
