Our Australian International Coffee Awards (AICA) 2019, trophy winning ‘Bandar Jaya Natural’ is sourced from the Bener Meriah Regency of the Gayo Highlands in the north-western area of the Indonesian island of Sumatra – a region world renowned for coffee growing.

Situated just 4 degrees north of the equator, the climate is wet and humid all year round making it difficult to naturally process (sun-dry) the coffee. To overcome this, the coffee is dried on raised beds under transparency sheets to accelerate drying whilst helping to maintain quality throughout the process. Having a coffee prepared in this way from this region is a rarity and it’s a testament to the forward thinking coffee growers and producers to offer a remarkable tasting coffee such as this. 

Our Bandar Jaya Natural is roasted specifically for filter brewing and tastes like ripe cherries and raspberries, toffee apple, Riesling, vanilla and cocoa liqueur. It’s available in limited supply at our Container Espresso Bar at McDonald Jones Stadium and from our website.
